Who operates NewSpot

NewSpot LLC operates NewSpot and is responsible for the data practices described here. Its mailing address is 1445 Woodmont Ln NW #613, Atlanta, GA 30318.

What NewSpot collects

  • When anonymous usage analytics are on, NewSpot receives the action, city, optional place, app version, and a random session code that is hashed on the server.
  • Usage analytics do not include your email, account ID, private notes, visit dates, contacts, precise location, advertising ID, or a stable device ID.
  • If you sign in, private account data can include your verified email, Saved places and notes, follows, Cards progress, self-reported visits, preferences, and account activity needed to provide continuity.
  • If you turn on notifications, NewSpot stores the information needed to reach this device and remember your choices.
  • Production crash reporting may receive errors, crash details, basic app, operating-system, and device-model information, plus a 10% sample of app startup and screen-load timing. It does not collect screenshots, replay, page content, logs, identity, or full URLs, and the IP field is fixed to 0.0.0.0.
  • Community reports may include notes, optional contact details, optional photo URLs, and private uploaded photo evidence.
  • Owner correction and business claim flows may include contact details, verification notes, and public business context.
  • Approximate browser location is used only when you choose a nearby option. The app does not collect background location.
  • If you open street imagery for a place, NewSpot asks Mapillary for images near that public address. It does not send your device location, account, saved places, or visit history.

How NewSpot uses it

  • Usage data helps improve features and find stale, duplicate, or incorrect places.
  • Contact details are used to handle a request, verify an owner correction, or send a requested update.
  • Submitted reports do not automatically change public map facts.
  • Notifications are sent only for saved places or interests you follow, and no more often than your daily or weekly limit.
  • NewSpot uses service providers for hosting, sign-in, email, notifications, crash reporting, and optional public street imagery. They process data only to provide those services.
  • Housing and access analytics are neighborhood and market level. They do not infer protected-class traits.

What NewSpot avoids

  • No sale of consumer contact details.
  • No public display of reporter identity without consent.
  • No device-level movement profiles in the public app.
  • No cross-company advertising tracking in the current consumer app.

Your controls

  • You can browse, save locally, and use Cards without creating an account.
  • The Me screen lets you turn off anonymous usage analytics and clears unsent usage data from that device.
  • Notification controls are separate from follows. You can pause each topic, choose daily or weekly delivery, remove the current device, or use system settings after denying permission.
  • Signing out unregisters notifications for that app installation. Clearing a device removes its local NewSpot data; it does not delete account data stored for another device.
  • If you sign in, you can download your account data and request deletion. Deletion removes private account data and sign-in access after NewSpot confirms the request. Public information about places may remain.

Retention and contact

  • NewSpot keeps account and submission records only while needed to provide the requested feature, protect the service, satisfy applicable obligations, or complete a deletion request. Operational records may retain a redacted audit without the deleted identity.
  • Notification provider tokens are removed when you remove the device, sign out, delete the account, or when the provider reports that the device is no longer registered.
  • Questions about privacy, access, correction, or deletion can be sent to privacy@newspot.app, mailed to NewSpot LLC at 1445 Woodmont Ln NW #613, Atlanta, GA 30318, or submitted through the form below.
